An Overview of the Ultimate Hold'em Playing Cards and Hand Ranks

The Ultimate Texas Hold'em observes the same hand ranking as in the regular casino game of poker. It applies the general principles that all suit cards have the same rank while the card values are in the following highest to lowest rank values: ace, king, queen, jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

The playing hands in Ultimate Texas Hold'em poker have the following ranks from the highest hand rank to the lowest:

a) Royal Flush (the highest and premium hand) consists of cards of the same suit of ace, king, queen, jack and 10. b) A straight Flush of 5 cards in sequence that belong to the same suit. c) Four of a kind which are four cards belonging to the same value. d) Full House which consists of three cards having the same value with a pair of cards that belongs to the same value. e) Flush that consists of cards belonging to the same suit but not necessarily in sequence. In case both players have a flush, the hand ranking is decided based on the highest card value of each player. f) Straight Flush consisting of 5 cards in sequence belonging to the same suit. g) 4 of a Kind which are 4 cards having the same value. h) Straight which are 5 cards belonging to any suit that are in sequence. The ace may be counted as either high or low. i) 3 of a Kind which are 3 cards having the same value. j) 2 Pairs consisting of two sets of different pairs. The highest pair will compete against other player's the same hand rank. In case both players have the same highest pair card value the lowest pair will be compared to determine the winning hand. k) 1 Pair consisting of two cards having the same value. The higher pair will beat the other player's lower pair in case there is a tie. The ace pair will have the highest value of all pairs.

In case of no pair, the card values of each poker player with the highest value will determine the hand ranking. In case when there are two hands having the same pair value, the hand ranking will be determined by the value of the remaining cards. Also the hand ranking of a straight will follow the rule that the card values of king, queen and jack beat the hand rank of jack, 10, and 9

Understanding the different hand ranks in Ultimate Texas Hold'em is the major key on playing the game more efficiently as the game is primarily a competition of hand ranking between the dealer and the player. The one with the higher hand rank value naturally wins in Ultimate Texas Hold'em.
